Case Study – Data Entry Errors
A Not-for-Profit business was having issues with the data that had been entered into Dynamics GP. There were many errors, and the subledgers would not reconcile to their associated GL accounts. The primary reasons for the errors were because there were several personnel changes, and none of the people had any training on how Dynamics GP functions and how various transactions affect the GL accounts.
NMS was asked to help resolve the issues. The first step was to identify the errors. The next step was to determine which errors could be fixed and which errors could only be resolved with GL adjustments. The next step was to make all the correcting entries and GL adjustments, and the final step was to verify that all sublegers reconciled to their associated GL accounts.
During the entire process, the individual responsible for the data entry was also being trained by learning how to identify and correct the errors. This made the learning process more efficient.
After all the work was completed, the subledgers reconciled to their GL accounts, the Financials were reliable, the auditors had confidence in the data, and the data entry errors had been reduced to near zero.
